Zipp Wheel Hub Bearing Replacement: Find the Right Bearings

When it’s time to replace your Zipp wheel hub bearings, it’s important to know which bearings are needed before disassembling the hubs. This Zipp wheel bearing replacement blog article will provide you with all the details.


For Zipp wheels, it's best to check the wheel hub model rather than the wheel model when looking for bearings. Similar wheel models can come with different hubs, meaning the bearings may vary.


A Zipp road wheelset contains 6 bearings, 2 in the front hub, 2 in the rear hub, and 2 in the freehub.

Example of Zipp Wheel Bearing Replacement:

This is a 303 Firecrest wheel. From the photo, we can see both the front and rear hubs.

Based on the hub's shape, it is a ZR1 hub, which can be verified using the Zipp Wheel Hub Timeline.

Knowing it is a ZR1 hub, you can go to the Zipp Wheel Bearing Set Page and select:

Zipp Wheel Bearing Replacement Kit Configuration:

  • 2 × 6903 (front hub)

  • 2 × 6903 (rear hub)

  • 2 × 6803 (freehub)
